Roy Nijenhuis – Founder of The Golf Lab

Roy Nijenhuis is the founder of The Golf Lab. His career in golf began at the age of twelve. From that moment, he played in many amateur tournaments, which eventually sparked his passion for the sport and led to a professional career.

His professional journey began with an impressive achievement: winning first place at The Putting Masters and later securing second place in a European competition in Switzerland. These successes inspired him to share his knowledge and experience by founding a golf school.

Today, this has grown into a golf academy operating across four locations and home to the largest indoor golf center in the Netherlands. As a TrackMan data specialist, Roy warmly welcomes guests at the Kasteel Engelenburg Golf Course location.

Training Sessions The Golf Lab

At The Golf Lab, we ensure that golf remains enjoyable for all ages. Our Golf Pro, Roy Nijenhuis, has specialized in the physical possibilities and limitations of the body in relation to golf. Upon request, TrackMan technology can be used to provide even greater insight into your performance.

Playing according to your ability while maintaining enjoyment in both playing and learning is our motto. The Golf Lab’s approach is based on game-like learning — after all, it’s all about the game itself. For both short clinics and multi-day programs, such as a golf clinic with overnight stay, we offer tailor-made solutions.

Become a True Golfer

For two months, enjoy a 45-minute group lesson each week — including equipment, theory and practical exams, and of course your official NGF HCP 54 card. After obtaining your course permission in the first month, you can play unlimited golf for two months on our beautiful 9-hole Castle Course. We offer this GVB (golf proficiency) program — including unlimited play during this period — for just €99 per month (based on a 3-month plan). Afterwards, you can choose to continue playing for 12 months at €92 per month, which includes a 45-minute group lesson every week. You’ll also receive discounts on fun and educational golf clinics — perfect for anyone looking to earn their GVB in just two days or to further refine their game. In collaboration with Golfclub Engelenburg, you’ll also receive club membership, and we’ll take care of the NGF registration for €24.50. At our Engelenburg Golf and Country Club, everything revolves around a shared passion for golf and the unforgettable moments we create together. Whether you’re just starting your GVB golf course or you’re an experienced player looking to improve, our golf academy welcomes every golfer.

Driving range

The driving range at Kasteel Engelenburg Golf Course is public and open to all. If you turn right just before the gate or entrance to the estate, you will automatically reach the driving range. Here you will find 14 covered tee-off spots. The driving range is located on the site of the house’s old vegetable garden, once surrounded by walls to protect the garden plants. Right next to the driving range is a practice area for pitches, which is also publicly accessible.

The driving range is open daily from sunrise to:

March to 6 p.m.
April to 7 p.m.
May through August until 8 p.m.
September to 7 p.m.
October to 6 p.m.
November through February until 4 p.m.

Please note that maintenance work is performed on the driving range every Monday and Thursday morning until 9 a.m.

For hotel guests, members and green fee players, the use of golf balls at the driving range is free of charge. Other guests can use the facilities of the driving range for a fee of €5.00 per person per day. Payment at the golf reception at Kasteel Engelenburg.

Putting Green

Within the lush gardens of the English castle, special areas have been created to practice your putting and chipping skills. Amid ancient red beeches and next to a quaint tea house, you can focus on your short game. The putting green is located near the tee of the first hole and is freely accessible. This provides an excellent opportunity to refine your putting technique before starting the real thing.

The chipping green, which once served as the green of the ninth hole, now provides a perfect setting to practice your chipping and pitching techniques. While exercising, you can also enjoy the beautiful flower borders that beautify the area. An ideal way to improve your skills while surrounded by the enchanting beauty of the gardens.
